Case 2 : Problems with Windows, need to restore from image only

If the notebook is infected with virus, not function properly or unstable, you may want to recover Windows 7. Simply follow these steps and your notebook will be back to the state as at 14 July 2010 :

Note : Since all your data files (including photos, songs, movies, doc, xls....) are stored in D:\_user_data folder, they will not be destroyed during the process.


Method 1 - 一鍵還原
=================
a) When you see the Windows Boot Manager Menu, there are two choices:
- Windows 7
- Windows OOOO
b) Select "Windows OOOO"
c) When you see a dialogue box "Windows 一鍵還原 *還原確認*", select "還原 (R)" to recover the notebook to the state as at 14 July 2010". This process is completely automatic.

Method 2 - Use Ghost in 8GB USB Stick

a) Insert Silicon Power 8GB USB stick. (with Hiren's BootCD 10.6)
b) Turn on the notebook.
c) Press "Escape" button on the top left hand corner of the keyborad.
d) Wait for a menu and press "F9 Boot Device Options".
e) Select "silicon power"
f) Follow the steps in this video : 如何還原 hp dv7 手提電腦的 Win7 - Part 2 of 2(Ghost) (Note: When selecting the ghost image file, you can choose
i) drive 1.1\ghostimg\w7,
ii)drive 2.2\ghostimg\w7 or
iii) drive2.2\ghostimg\win7 )
g) Reboot the notebook.

Case 1 : Broken harddisk

If your harddisk is broken and replaced, the engineer from HP may have installed Microsoft Vista. You have to go through two steps to recover Windows 7.

Step 1 - Re-partition the harddisk

a) Insert Silicon Power 8GB USB stick. (with Hiren's BootCD 10.6)
b) Turn on the notebook.
c) Press "Escape" button on the top left hand corner of the keyborad.
d) Wait for a menu and press "F9 Boot Device Options".
e) Select "silicon power"

g) Reboot the notebook.

Step 2 - Restore Ghost image

a) Insert Silicon Power 8GB USB stick. (with Hiren's BootCD 10.6)
b) Turn on the notebook.
c) Press "Escape" button on the top left hand corner of the keyborad.
d) Wait for a menu and press "F9 Boot Device Options".
e) Select "silicon power"

g) Reboot the notebook.
